Poisonous thoughts have brought me often to righteous anger yet impotent rage.
Against the superstitions of racism, technocratic Utopianism, and other assorted
evils, I've realized the wise warrior picks battles small enough to win and big enough
to matter.

The Southern Poverty Law Center
has been a boon in the fight against racism and various groups seeking to impose
their fascist vision on the United States. I've studied political extremism as an
outgrowth of my interest in the supernatural and strange phenomena. I am proud to
be a regular contributor for over 13 years. They not only fight legal battles but
provide valuable intelligence on extremist groups of all kinds and, better still,
educational resources for combatting prejudice and cultivating an appreciation of
our diverse nation.

The Nature Conservancy protects our
dwindling greenspace pre-emptively by purchasing it to put in trust for future generations.
It has become a model that instead of fighting the system, uses it to give sanctuary
to what would otherwise have become a casualty of strip malls and overpriced luxury
housing. Would that my neck of the woods could have had such zeal...

"My people are destroyed for lack of vision..." So lamented Hosea.
The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors fights
this by its injection of sacredness and conscious inspiration into the medium of
art. Alex Grey went from confused and troubled beginnings to become the premier exponent
of what has now come to be called Visionary Art. I saw this almost 15 years ago and
am now glad to contribute in some small way to realizing a museum dedicated to modern
sacred art.
